Juste avant notre déménagement, nous avons eu le plaisir d'accueillir les élèves de la British School of Kathmandu pendant plusieurs jours. Ce fut une expérience incroyable d'échanger avec ces jeunes esprits curieux, de répondre à leurs nombreuses questions et de discuter de la nature et des éléphants.

Nous sommes fiers de souligner que ce programme est entièrement financé par La Fondation Le Pal Nature, dont le soutien nous permet de sensibiliser les jeunes générations à la protection des éléphants et de la faune sauvage.

Chaque rencontre est une opportunité précieuse pour éveiller les consciences et inspirer la prochaine génération à protéger notre planète et sa biodiversité. Just before moving our sanctuary, we had the pleasure of hosting students from the British School of Kathmandu for several days. It was an amazing experience answering their many interesting questions and discussing nature and elephants.

A Sad Farewell to Makuna
It is with heavy hearts that we acknowledge the loss of Makuna, a wild elephant who was very well-known to us. Makuna was a symbol of the delicate balance between wildlife and human communities.
The news of his passing is deeply saddening. Elephants like Makuna remind us of the challenges of coexistence and the importance of continued efforts to ensure a future where humans and wildlife can live together.
At SU4E, we remain committed to promoting understanding, conservation, and solutions that benefit both people and elephants. Now more than ever, we must continue working towards a world where elephants are given the space and respect they deserve.

This wasn’t just a move — it was a carefully planned journey over 5 days to ensure Eva & Lhamo’s comfort, safety, and well-being. We avoided busy roads, traffic, and wild elephants, ensuring every step was stress-free.

In the video, you’ll see our mahouts riding Eva & Lhamo. Unlike their past in tourism, where they were forced to carry heavy loads for hours, riding here is used as a management tool. In Nepal, there are no trucks or modern methods like in other parts of Asia to safely transport elephants over long distances. Riding allows the mahouts, who share a deep bond with Eva & Lhamo, to guide them calmly through challenging terrain and ensure their safety.

Thanks to the team’s dedication, Eva & Lhamo arrived relaxed and ready to enjoy their peaceful new home. 🌿

In true SU4E spirit, we’ve prioritized sustainability by reusing materials from our previous camp, ensuring that this new space is both eco-friendly and functional. Everyone pitched in to help build a cosy and peaceful environment for Eva, Lhamo, and the team, even if it’s just temporary. 🌟

A special shoutout to Floriane, Quentin, Priscille, Anna, and Alana for their incredible hard work and dedication during the construction process 🙏💪

As of December 5th, our NGO has made a huge move! 🐘✨ We’ve relocated 2 hours from Sauraha, temporarily settling in the stunning Amaltari area at the warm and natural Tiger Tops Tharu Village compound. 🌿🌺 We are incredibly grateful to them for welcoming us like family while we search for the perfect permanent home for Eva, Lhamo, and, eventually, more elephants in need. 💚

This is the first reel of an exciting series! Today, we’re showing you the dismantling of the old camp, as we prepare for this big change. Tomorrow, we’ll share the construction of the temporary camp, where we reused materials from the previous location to stay sustainable and thoughtful. ♻️

Ce dernier mois, nous avons eu la chance d’accueillir deux bénévoles incroyables, Priscille et Quentin, chez Stand Up 4 Elephants.

Quentin, qui nous avait déjà rejoints en 2021, est revenu pour nous apporter à nouveau son soutien sans faille. Quel bonheur de l’accueillir à nouveau dans la famille SU4E ! ❤️

Priscille, déjà professionnelle dans le domaine des éléphants, est venue en apprendre davantage sur notre approche et notre philosophie. Sa passion et son dévouement ont illuminé chaque journée passée avec nous.

Ce dernier mois, nous avons eu la chance d’accueillir deux bénévoles incroyables, Priscille et Quentin, chez Stand Up 4 Elephants.

Quentin, qui nous avait déjà rejoints en 2021, est revenu pour nous apporter à nouveau son soutien sans faille. Quel bonheur de l’accueillir à nouveau dans la famille SU4E ! ❤️

Priscille, déjà professionnelle dans le domaine des éléphants, est venue en apprendre davantage sur notre approche et notre philosophie. Sa passion et son dévouement ont illuminé chaque journée passée avec nous.

Tous les deux ont travaillé sans relâche—jour et nuit, sans jours de repos—pour nous aider à prendre soin des éléphants et à poursuivre notre mission. Leur travail acharné et leur grand cœur sont une source d’inspiration pour nous tous.

Cette année encore, nous avons eu l’immense plaisir de participer à ce rendez-vous incontournable des amateurs, professionnels, passionnés et associations de protection de la nature. Pendant 4 jours, le magnifique site du Lac du Der a réuni tous les amoureux de la faune sauvage, tout en étant le théâtre du passage des majestueuses grues cendrées.

🌟 Busy Time at SU4E 🌟

This past week has been anything but ordinary for the SU4E team. Along with our daily work of caring for Eva and Lhamo and welcoming guests free of charge, we’ve been tirelessly patrolling the jungle border to prevent wild elephants from entering the villages around the sanctuary.

For the past year, a wild bull elephant named Makuna has been visiting the area frequently. When he enters into human settlements, he can be really challenging.

To address this, we’ve been training a courageous task force of local young men from the village of Harnari to manage such situations peacefully. For the past weeks, our incredible night patrol team has been tracking Makuna safely.

On the rare occasions when Makuna ventured into the villages, the team safely followed him and guided him back into the jungle using flashlights and vehicles—ensuring no harm came to him or the community and vice versa. Thanks to their efforts, the villages of Chautol, Harnari, and Kumroj can sleep safely.

Meet these two gorgeous German Shepherds, a boy and a girl, who have been through so much together. 💔 A couple of months ago, they were cruelly abandoned in the middle of Bharatpur, sick and emaciated. But despite everything, they’ve held on to each other and are now on the road to recovery in a foster home, thanks to the amazing team at Animal Nepal, who found them. 🙏

✨ Why They’re Special ✨

Loyal companions who’ve likely spent their whole lives together.

Understand commands, are well-behaved, friendly, and affectionate.

Excellent guard dogs with hearts full of love for the right family.

They have been spayed and neutered 👍
